The town of Solanas is another jewel in the south eastern corner of Sardinia. Dominated by an ancient monastery, the town centre - which was been fixed up very nicely in the last few years - and a wonderful, wide, protected bay for swimming are appealing. It should be pointed out that the local restaurant “Da Barbara” has made a name for itself with its Sardinian and Mediterranean cuisine, and the bar “Bacchus Sardus”, which is tucked away inconspicuously by the side of the road, offers an extensive range of the best Sardinian wines and specialities.
